For liability reasons, our drivers cannot enter homes, apartments, basements, attics, or private areas. All donations must be placed in an accessible location before pickup

Single family homes, townhomes, condos:

> Please place donations in a publicly accessible area, such as a porch, vestibule, curb, open garage, or driveway.

Apartments:

> Please place donations in a 1st Floor lobby/other common area (such as a delivery or mail area) or outside for pickup.

We CAN enter businesses and institutions, including offices, libraries, schools, storage facilities, and similar locations.

We require a minimum of 8 boxes/bags total for pickup.

This helps us keep pickups efficient and affordable while maximizing impact.

Have fewer than 8 boxes/bags? Please drop them at one of our containers or retail locations.

Our Donation Guidelines

We currently only offer pickups within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and typically service areas within an hour (ish) of Boston.

  • Pickups are scheduled online and based on route availability.
  • Accessible locations for pickup include porches, driveways, open garages, building lobbies, and designated common areas.
  • If you're unable to use the online scheduler due to an accessibility need, please contact us for assistance.
  • Furniture is approved by our thrift team based on the photos you upload when scheduling

prepare for your your donation pickup

To ensure a successful pickup, donations must be prepared and placed according to the guidelines below.

Donations that do not meet these requirements may not be collected

  • Furniture

    Drivers are instructed to pickup PRE-APPROVED FURNITURE ONLY and are not able to enter your home to retrieve.

  • Condition

    Items must be clean and gently used in order for us to accept.

  • Package/Containers

    Bagged or boxed.

    Boxes do not need to be taped closed, but do need to be liftable.

  • Place/Location

    Please include notes in your pickup request for drivers.

    Important: Drivers may NOT enter your home or private space to retrieve donations .

  • Tax Receipts

    You will automatically receive a tax receipt following your pickup. This will be emailed to the same address as your confirmation.

  • Pickup Timing

    Pickups take place within a window on your selected date, usually 10-3.

    Our drivers follow an optimized route, so we’re unable to provide an exact arrival time.

    On the morning of your pickup, we'll email you your route stop number and a contact number for urgent issues.

  • Do I Need to Be Home?

    No — you do not need to be home.

    Please leave your donation in an approved, accessible pickup location.

  • Where to Place Donations

    For home pickups - donations must be placed in a publicly accessible area, such as a porch, curb, lobby, open garage, or designated common space.

    Please ensure items are clearly visible, safely accessible, and protected from weather when possible.

  • Building Access

    If your pickup is in an apartment or multi‑unit building, donations must be left in a first floor lobby or common area - this includes furniture

    Our drivers are not able to wait for access or retrieve items from secured or private spaces.

  • Weather & Safety

    If Inclement weather is expected, we suggest placing items in a protected place and/or covering items placed outside.

    Pickups may be delayed or rescheduled in cases of severe weather or unsafe conditions.

  • Confirmation & Changes

    You’ll receive a confirmation email after scheduling your pickup and a reminder the day before.

    If you need to make changes or cancel, please use the instructions in your confirmation email as early as possible.
