Director of Grants
Learn More & ApplyThe Director of Grants will lead More Than Words in engaging foundation/corporate partners and acquiring and managing government grants and contracts. This position is responsible for approximately $5.5M in revenue across these two funding streams in FY 2027 and meeting annual goals for growth of revenue. A position with a mix of hands-on and leadership responsibilities, the Director will be the organization’s lead grant writer, taking direct ownership of organizing and drafting new or complex proposals, and will lead engagement, cultivation, and prospecting for corporate and foundation stakeholders. The Director will supervise the Grants & Giving Manager who maintains the grants calendar and supports drafting and submitting routine proposals and reports. The Director will also supervise the Senior Government Contracts Manager who manages fee-for-service government contracts and routine government contracting and reporting. This role reports to the Chief Advancement Officer and works closely with CEO as well as the evaluation and finance teams.

The Associate Director will foster a strong, data-driven culture to continuously improve outcomes for young people as they develop academic, workforce, and life skills.
This position reports to the Director of Youth Development and works closely with the Associate Director of Youth Development (Waltham) and Social Enterprise leaders. Responsibilities include supervising youth development staff, interns, and volunteers; leading program development and management; and serving as a positive role model and resource for youth. -
Youth Development Manager - Waltham
Learn More & ApplyMore Than Words (MTW) seeks a Case Manager - Youth Development (YDM) with experience working directly with high-risk youth and has a passion for working with young adults moving their lives forward through a social enterprise. The YDM supports youth, individually and in small groups, to set and achieve goals around education, employment and self-efficacy, to manage and navigate challenges as they transition to self-sufficiency and responsible adulthood and establishes performance standards as a basis for “compassionate accountability.”
As MTW is committed to using data to improve performance and results, the Case Manager - Youth Development is responsible for accurate and timely data tracking and for incorporating data inquiry as a critical learning tool to improve practice and programs. This position reports to the Associate Director of Youth Development.

The MTW Front Desk Reception, Hospitality & Safety Manager serves as the first point of contact for youth, staff, volunteers and visitors coming to the MTW Boston location. This role creates a welcoming, safe, and organized environment while supporting daily operations and maintaining safety protocols at More Than Words. The position plays a critical role in upholding the organization’s mission to provide a secure, supportive, and positive space for youth development and job training, while also being a key role to maintain safety protocols.
The manager reports to the Boston Site Director.

Volunteer Manager

The Volunteer Manager is an organized and enthusiastic alumnus of More Than Words who engages volunteers to support our mission in many ways. The Manager runs 2-3 group volunteer events weekly, interviews and onboards recurring individual volunteers, stays in regular communication with 30-40 individuals about their weekly schedule, and provides administrative support for the program including managing an active volunteer email inbox.
The Manager reports to the Associate Director of Development, and also assists the department in routine and ad hoc administrative tasks, such as donation processing and event support.

Evaluation Coordinator

MTW seeks a creative, highly motivated, and detail-oriented Evaluation & Learning Coordinator to support our Evaluation and Learning Department. This position provides a hands-on, real-world opportunity to learn the basics of database quality assurance and data visualization. The Evaluation & Learning Coordinator will support regular reviews for quality and accuracy of the data in MTW’s youth-data system, complete routine analysis to present data to the team of young adults and staff and learn to apply the basic principles of database management. The Evaluation & Learning Coordinator will report directly to the Evaluation Manager.
