This scrapbook, compiled during the first half of the twentieth century by Los Angeles detective Jack Huddleston--about whom little or nothing is publicly known--mysteriously surfaced at an estate auction a few years ago. The reader is left to wonder about the man who pasted together, and annotated, some of the most grusome and bizarre police photographic records imaginable. He was witness to severed heads at auto crashes, hangings, murders, suicides, and many now fabled human oddities.
